Keeping up with Catherine

Lately I have been attempting to use as many coupons and buy stuff we need on sale. Walgreens has been my best savings space lately. So to try and keep up with Catherine, who I just found out got to see one of my favorite bands ever, live, I am going to post my weekend savings. Maybe if I put it in writing it will either look really good or make me rethink what I am buying. So here goes nothing.

Schick Quatro trimstyle
Bayer Aspirin
Nivea body wash
3-12 packs Pepsi products

Total spent $62.88

Register Rewards back $18.50

Walgreens Stop #2

2 Kleenex 200 ct
4 Garnier Shampoo
2 Garnier hair glue
2- Sunlight dish soap
Aleve
Schick Quatro refill
Secret pitstick
4- men's speed stick
Reynolds wrap

Total $68.10
Coupons/Savings $57.85 This includes my register rewards from stop #1
Walgreens Easy Saver gift card $13.19
Miscellaneous giftcards collecting dust in my wallet $54.91
Total out of pocket this stop $0

Found out that the Easy Saver system is being stopped, just when I get it figured out too. Now they are going to all register rewards, which freaking expire so I have to remember to get back in and use them. Apparently people were complaining that it took too long to get their Easy Saver check or gift card back. Hello Idiots! It says right on the form that it could take up to 10 weeks to get it back. My very first one only took two weeks. I would much rather have that, which didn't expire in a week then the register rewards. Oh well, guess I just have to keep playing the game and see what I can save.

So we are now good on shampoo and deoderant, incase you were wondering. Plus if you come visit, you have many choices for washing your hair to chose from. ;)

Now that I have boatloads of shampoo I am thinking about getting all my hair cut off. Have to keep up with DD on that one. ;) Not sure though if I want to go short before the big class reunion again. Did that for the 20 year and my hair was the same as it was when I graduated, boy short and stick straight. So if I can hold out until Labor Day weekend with this mop I have going on it will be a miracle. I probably shouldn't have tried cutting it myself this weekend. I have no idea what the back looks like now. I just hope it stays curled for the day, that usually hides many imperfections.

Water in the basement, oh yeah!
Boy home puking from school today. Hope he is keeping up with the water.
Girl still has a nasty cough but the snot nose seems to be better.
Parents coming home 2 weeks earlier then planned. Mother has an enlarged heart, that she just found out about. Plus fluid on one of her lungs. Dad is coughing up his lungs due to an infection so has been getting antibiotic shots for the past week. Hopefully they will be able to cross the border today and get out of the county and not bring the pig flu home with them. None of us will be needing that.

Guess I will have to crack out the rotatiller one night this week so that the garden is ready to go when my mommy gets here.

What is new with you?

An Angel Got Her Wings Too Soon

Remembering Maddie
Madeline Alice Spohr lost her battle with time yesterday. Her time on earth was much too short, just 17 months. Donate to the cause if you can or just send prayers up for her parents.

I can't begin to imagine how her parents feel or how they are surviving.

I never read their blog or new of Maddie until Becky posted on her blog. I feel like I have known her though from reading what has been written and pictures that I have seen over the past two days. Her passing was not something that they thought would come so soon. How do you ever think about your child leaving this earth before you? You can't.

The link to their blog has been overloaded so I can't even link to it.

I just want to squeeze my girl and never put her down, even with the Ms. Independant attitude she has developed.

Becky put it all so much better then I ever could.

Release a purple latex balloon in honor of Maddie this weekend. I know I plan to.
