Oooh! Free Treasure

I don't have a picture but I have a the entire back end of my Outland*r FULL of free material. Lots of flannel and cool prints. Someone posted on craigslist that they were cleaning grandma's basement and to come get it. When I left with my car full there were still boxes and boxes of material left. If only I had more space I would have taken more.

Then the best finds were in the pile of crap they were throwing out! I have a huge box of hand made doll clothes, 3 of those cases that we used to carry our dolly and all the accompaning crap for her in. They are dirty but in good shape.

So lots of crap to go through this weekend. Hopefully I can get it hidden before Steve gets home and then leaves again for the weekend. ;) Because I don't have enough crap already. I must get you some pictures of the "finds" I have made over the summer.

I just want to wiggle like a puppy over all the good shit I found. ;)

Ok, no comments that I am weird, I already know, thanks.

Email Won't Go Through

Catherine,

Not sure what is happening with your email or maybe it is mine but I can't send you the blanket pictures. So now I have to post them here. ;) Probably needed a different post at the top here anyway after that last one.

So last weekend I spent making "baby" blankets. They were supposed to be reasonable baby sized blankies. However, I failed to take into account with my measurements that I was putting one inch strips between the squares. So the one I made for my sister-in-law is big enough for a twin sized bed. That baby may be taking it to college with her.

I did adjust on the second one that I made for one of my coworker's baby but that one is still pretty darn big.

Well, here they are. The one with the green edging is for my sister-in-law and the one with the white strips in between the squares is for my coworker.

I am totally inlove with the floral square blanket now. So to supplement my fabric stash I went to our local thrift store Tuesday afternoon since I had to take off anyway due to Mom having a doctor appointment and God forbid Dad or Alex could watch the girl.
So I get to the one store and almost all of the shelves are empty and I was thinking that they were going out of business. Turns out they were doing $3.00 a bag sale to clear out inventory so that they could put out the fall and winter stuff. So I went through the sheets and pillow case section and got a couple things. Then I went through the clothing racks and made a haul. I started grabbing all floral print skirts that had decent material, obviously not the scratchy foofy skirts, then some dresses and some shirts. Then since Mom has lost so much weight this summer and none of her pants stay up on her ass I grabbed her three pairs of jeans. For 6 bucks I ended up with enough material to keep myself sewing for a few weeks!
Then I went to the next thrift store and it apparently has been taken over by new managers, it is the Salvat*on Army store here in town. They really have screwed it up. You can barely get through the aisles and they have jacked all the prices way up. So now instead of being able to move inventory they have to cram more into the store because the prices are getting outrageous. Some stuff you can get new at Walmart or Target for less they what they are trying to sell used for. Plus, all the ladies that I was just getting to know and who knew me and what I was looking for when I came in there and would sometimes put stuff aside for me, were all gone. I will give it one more visit but if it is still so crappily organized, it used to be very nice and open and easy to find stuff and to see what was on the shelves, I may have to cross it off my list. This is one of two left in town.
The St. Vinnie store closed last year due to a greedy property owner upping their rent so they couldn't afford it. These are charity shops people, give them a break. One good thing on that situation, the asshole still hasn't gotten that space rented again. I guess you should have kept what income you did have in place. HA!
Melissa, I got your comment but have no way to contact you. So either get my email from Flicka or email through the link on the blog here and I will get the measurements for your baby so I can get her some butt covers.
I did actually sell three pair from my listing on craigsl*st. So that was exciting.
Statia, I see what you were talking about with the seams at the knees. I just let Marjorie wear them like that. I will work on figuring out how to correct it and then send a pair for the girl to see if it works better. I still have some cute sweaters "in stock". ;)

Random Rants, turned a bit political because I am sick of the crap

Just a heads up for you, my blog, my opinions, if you don't like them then stop now.  Comments are on but can be turned off.

What the hell are alligator lizards and how do they get in the air?

Will one swig, most of it spit out on the chair, harm the baby?   Apparently not.  4 days later and she is just fine, not even a scarey diaper after the incident.

Anyone know an easy, crabby free way to break a very stubborn little girl of the bottle?  Pacifier?

Did anyone one in southeastern WI actually take a driver's ed class?  If so, what do they teach in the classes down here?

I heart Rachel Maddow.

I heart Keith Olberman too.  Mmmmm, big strong opinionated men in suits.  Maybe he is a bit opinionated but the comments on some of the sites sure are pissy when it comes to someone else having a different point of view.

Why is it so difficult to sew something round versus any other freaking shape?

Why do people say that they welcome differing opinions yet freak the fuck out if anyone offers comments that are actually of a differing opinion?  It is all "free speech" and "we are not terrorists" yet they call the president and anyone who wants to promote a different opinion "terrorists"  and idiots.  Well, suck it you jack asses, free speech means that the people holding townhall meetings should be allowed to actually SPEAK!!!  Maybe there are people who want to hear what they have to say and you are impeding that process.  If you all weren't so damn worried that this would be passed then there wouldn't be a need for all this showboating.  It isn't like the American people are going to vote on this.  But it would be nice if they could have the opportunity to actually ask their questions without being in fear for their lives at these meetings.  This is everyone's opportunity to find out what is happening without having to find and read the entire proposal.  So shut the hell up.  If you seriously think that it is so terrible then you don't have to worry about YOUR elected officials voting for it.

Some people I know in real life need to get a sense of humor.

What is up with all the idiots with the mob mentality not allowing Senators and Representatives to speak at the Town Hall meetings?  Is it that perhaps they are afraid that the plan that is layed out to date is actually going to benefit the majority of the public.

The lies.
No, my parents will not be marched off to a death camp, nor would my baby if she has something wrong with her.
No, my current insurance will not be taken away from me.
No, I won't be forced to go to a doctor chosen by the "government"

Yes, insurance companies may have to become competitive with their prices, WAA!
Yes, I can still keep my current insurance and there is a chance it may actually get better.
Yes, my parents will continue to have their insurance, Medi*care and Tri*Care, both government run insurance plans.
Yes, the CEOs of insurance companies may have to take a cut in pay.  If they hadn't spent all the money that they have all been collecting for who knows how many years they really wouldn't have to worry.

Seriously, if I won the lottery and ended up with a million after taxes, I seriously could quit my job and live quite comfortably for the rest of my life and put both of my children through college and pay for health insurance for the family.  So to those who have made 13 million or more every year for several years, too freaking bad if you don't know what a damn savings account is.  That is what you are saying to all the people who have lost their jobs over the past 8 years.

"So sorry you lost your job, oh you have a kid with asthma?  Oh, good luck with that.  Sure we will offer up an insurance plan for your family but that sick kid, yeah, no that is an existing condition, that would be an extra $1000 a month and a special plan for that one above and beyond the $2000 a month for the rest of the family.  How do you want to pay for this?  Automatic withdrawal?  Credit card?  Oh, right you don't have a job, what about a savings account, oh you don't have that either because you lost your job 6 months ago and your child had some issues with Spring and Summer.  Aw, that is just too damn bad.  We will be happy to help you when you can give us 2 months premium up front.  Don't let the door hit you on the way out. "

Don't give up on this reform.  It needs to be done so that people who currently have insurance don't end up paying half of their salary to cover their premiums.

And when is Sar*h "Dumbass" P*lin going to go the fuck away?  I guess for all the GOP were embarassed by her during the campaign now she is A-Ok because she draws a crowd and babbles on and on like the idiot she is talking out of her ass so they want her around now because she is furthering their cause.

Ok, so maybe this wasn't so random after all.

I can't believe that anyone is even questioning that health care reform would be a good thing.  The lies that are being bandied about to try and get this shot down just fucking amaze me.
